Governors

The governors of the school have been appointed to support the school and to ensure it is effectively led and managed. It is their responsibility to support and challenge the school’s leadership and management to ensure the school is providing the very best education for the young people who attend.

In order to do this the full Governing Body meets 6 times over an academic year and they receive detailed reports and presentations from the Director and Heads of School on all areas of the running of the school. In particular they look at outcomes in the following areas:

• Effectiveness of leadership and management
• Quality of teaching, learning and assessment
• Personal development, behaviour and welfare
• Outcomes for children and learners

In additional there are 3 sub committees who meet to look at the following areas:

• Curriculum, Pastoral and School Improvement ( CPSI)
• Buildings and Environment (BE)
• Finance, Staffing and Remuneration (FSR)

All governors are closely involved in the work of the school and in addition to attending the Governing Body meetings they visit the school to meet identified staff, attend Student Progress Days and Achievement Assemblies and attend identified school training sessions as appropriate.

The governors are made up of a range of people from all walks of life and have a range of skills and experiences that complement each other and support the school in setting its strategic direction and monitoring the effectiveness of its provision.

The Chair of Governors is Tony Burgess. Tony or another member of the Governing Body can be contacted via the school.
